# Installation instructions for remote.it

remote.it software comprises two parts:

- daemon package to go on the target device, which creates remote.it Services
- client software to access remote.it Services

The remote.it Desktop application combine these into a single installer for Windows, MacOS, and Linux Desktop operating systems.

For embedded systems, we offer:

- [a streamlined installer](https://support.remote.it/hc/en-us/articles/4422773654669-Streamlined-installation-for-Linux-and-Raspberry-Pi-platforms) for Raspberry Pi and other Linux systems, which gets you started quickly
- the Device Package, which you configure using the remoteit Desktop application
- a CLI package, which is configured by running commands on the device where it is installed
