REMOTE.IT can not connect to Android phone if it is in LOCK SCREEN MODE.
Our work around is to turn on NOTIFICATION ON LOCK SCREEN.
Then whenever we want to connect. WE have to wake up the phone with an SMS message or
TELEGRAM message. This wakes up the phone momentarily..
THen a connection can be made.
Anyone else aware of this bug, can it be fixed where REMOTE.IT can be always listening on port?
This is controlled by power management in Android, in some versions of Android an app can be excluded from being suspended. However, latest versions disregard user choices and will stop anything that is not Google. When SMS and Telegram apps have push notifications enabled, it allows for them to wake up the app to handle the message.
We could investigate if this is something that is possible, but it also could drain a battery. We didn’t have this as a use case in our original design.
The workaround is to plug phones in…It will stay awake while plugged in.
In developer option this feature can be turned on.
Or wake up the phone with a call to txt msg to any app
But need to have notification on lock screen turned on.
The use case for this feature when first developed was for android tablets that were being used by field technicians or in kiosks which would be able to have an attendant to turn on the phone for connection or the phone never went to sleep.
WE solved this problem with developer option to stay awake always on
