An issue has been identified that will result in system OS issues. This issue will impact remote.it Desktop Applications for macOS and Linux. Windows systems are not impacted.
NOTE: Do not use the remote.it Uninstall feature at the bottom of the settings page on macOS and Linux
An issue was found in versions 2.4.3 to 2.4.6 beta release of remote.it Desktop for macOS and Linux. The problem is related to a new Uninstall command that removes the installed binaries. The Uninstall feature is located at the bottom of the settings page of versions 2.4.3 through 2.4.6 in the remote.it Desktop Apps.
The Uninstall feature was found to remove the binary directory /usr/local/bin instead of the four remote.it binaries contained in the /bin folder.
How to Fix
Quit and restart remoteit-desktop. A fix was released in version 2.4.7 and all affected applications will automatically update to the fixed version upon restart. If you are using a version prior to 2.4.3 the app does not contain the issue. If you would like to update prior to 2.4.0 you must manually download and install 2.4.7 here:
If you have chosen to use the uninstaller in an earlier version, please contact remote.it support immediately: firstname.lastname@example.org
